Students whose placement scores have expired, or those who feel that unusual circumstances distorted their placement exam score, are allowed to re-take the placement exam. Students are allowed to have at most 2 current exam scores at any one time. Note that there must be at least 24 hours between each time you take the exam.
Entering freshmen who are re-taking their placement exam should sign up below to take the exam during Torero Days in the specified computer lab. If you sign up, you are guaranteed a computer to take the exam on. Entering freshmen who do not sign up can still drop in to take the exam at the time below, but they will only be allowed to take the exam at that time if there is a computer available.
All continuing students can take the exam on a drop-in basis in our computer lab in Serra 205 whenever the lab is open. There is no need to sign up for this. This new policy will begin on September 5, 2007.
Students need
these placement scores to be able to stay in a particular class. If you wait until the last minute
and then find that your Placement Exam score indicates
that you are not
ready for the course, you will be dropped from the class after
the first week, and you will have to find another course to complete your schedule.
Therefore it is in your best
interest to take the exam as soon as possible.
When should I take the test?
Incoming freshmen should take their exam over the summer, as soon as
they get their Freshman Questionnaire.
